- A man who unwittingly bought a “lifeless snake” suffering from a broken spine was told it was “resting” in a scene reminiscent of Monty Python’s “dead parrot” sketch.
- It’s reported that Christian Morris purchased the American corn snake from Darren Pike for £30.
- Christian says the snake was “ice cold” and “lifeless like a shoe string”, but was told it was simply resting when he raised these concerns with Darren.
- The snake reportedly died 24 hours after it was purchased.
- During the trial the court determined that the snake could not move because it had a broken spine and found Darren guilty of 3 charges of animal cruelty and banned him from keeping animals for a year.
- In the Monty Python scene, John Cleese lists the evidence that his parrot is dead only to be told by the pet shop owner that it is simply “pining for the fjords”.
