  • About 1,500 partygoers from the USA had to be rescued when their rafts accidentally washed up in Canadian territory while floating down the St Clair River.
  • It’s reported that the floatilla of rafts were blown off course by strong winds and rain.
  • Those on board were taking part in the annual Port Huron Float Down, which takes place on St Clair River separating the US state of Michigan from the Canadian province of Ontario.
  • Partygoers were worried about entering Canada without documentation, with many trying to swim back to the USA!
  • These people along with other ‘floaters’ were rescued by the Canadian Coast Guard and put on a bus back home.
  • Canadian authorities were later thanked in a Facebook page affiliated with the event, which read: “You’ve shown us true kindness and what it means to be amazing neighbors!”.
