Elon Musk’s plan for a space internet!

Elon Musk has requested FCC permission to allow SpaceX to shoot a constellation of small satellites into low Earth orbit to create a space internet.
It’s reported that these satellites would enable signals to be beamed to all corners of the planet, bringing internet to billions who do not presently have such access.
According to the billionaire’s maths, the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket would need to shoot approximately 4,000 satellites to achieve his goal, given that the signal from low-orbiting satellites won’t be able to cover as much of the planet as traditional satellites, which sit much higher above the planet.
The costs of such an endeavour are likely to be astronomical, noting that Bill Gates abandoned an attempt to create a low Earth orbit internet in the 1990s due to excessive costs.
If Musk is successful, it is reported that the service could be up and running in as few as 5 years.
