- It seems that Tanguy Pepiot from the University of Oregon was so confident about winning the race that he slowed to a jog and played up to the crowd, urging their adulation.
- Unfortunately, Tanguy forgot about his competitors, such as Washington’s Meron Simon, who overtook him to pip him at the post.
