- An Oregon-based brewery has released a beer called ‘Ground Control’, which is said to contain yeast that has actually travelled to space and back!
- Although Ninkasi Brewing Company launched the astronomical beer this week, it is the product of almost 2 years’ work by the company and its Ninkasi Space Program.
- The company states that the limited edition Imperial stout was brewed using yeast from its 2nd rocket into space, at approximately 408,035 feet (77.3 miles) above the earth.
- The company reportedly spent US$80,000 to send the yeast into space! Back in 2009, Sapporo crafted a beer from barley seeds that were sent into space.
