  • It’s reported that Eurovision used anti-boo technology to protect the Russian contestant from the anti-Russian sentiment that plagued its 2014 performers.
  • While little information has been provided, communications coordinator Jarno Siim said “plan B” was a buffer that would stifle booing on the broadcast, noting that the boos received by Russia last year were embarrassing and not within the spirit of the contest.
  • Seemingly spurred on by Russia’s enactment of anti-gay marriage legislation and conduct in the Ukraine, the crowd booed the performance by the Tolmachevy Sisters at almost every turn in 2014.
  • The Eurovision 2015 grand final was held in Vienna Austria, and was won by Mans Zelmerlow from Sweden, finishing on 365 points.
  • As it turns out, Polina Gagarina finished in second place with 303 points.
