- Despite his death weeks before trial, a Greek man was convicted of stealing electricity from a power company and given a six-month suspended sentence!
- The man was charged last year when activitists reconnected his power supply following its disconnection by the power company for unpaid bills.
- The Thessaloniki court refused a request made by the dead man’s lawyer Christos Bakelas to defer the trial so that he could produce a death certificate.
- Mr Bakelas reportedly said that he hadn’t experienced anything like this in his 25 years as a lawyer.
