- Not QUITE a prison escape!
- A group of Texas inmates broke out of a holding cell to save a prison guard who had lost consciousness!
- It’s reported that the inmates were in the Weatherford District Courts Building awaiting court appearances when the guard slumped to the floor.
- When their screams were not heard, the group of 8 men burst out of the holding cell, found the guard had no pulse, then tried to use his radio to call for help.
- Deputies heard the noise downstairs and came to assist, with emergency crew following soon after. Sgt Ryan Speegle said the situation could have been dangerous, as the unconscious guard had keys and a gun.
- One of the inmates, Nick Kelton, told WFAA “It never crossed my mind whether he’s got a gun or a badge…if he falls down, I’ll help him”, describing the guard as a “good man”.
- The incident was captured on CCTV, which is linked below.
- The guard is reportedly recovering from an apparent heart attack.
