- Students at Colorado Technical University 3D-printed a plastic shell for Cleopatra the tortoise, who was suffering from ‘pyramiding’ so she could ‘right’ herself.
- ‘Pyramiding’ causes pyramid-like lumps to form on the tortoise’s shell and can make it difficult for them to ‘right’ themselves. Although pyramiding can be caused by poor tortoise care, this is not always the case.
- The 3D shell covered Cleopatra’s lumps and smoothed out her shell, so she can right herself if she overturns!
