- Chemists from the University of California and Australia’s Flinders University say they’ve invented a way to unboil an egg and claim this may have implications for cancer research!
- Lead author of the study Gregory Weiss said this is big, as even chemists previously thought it was “game over” once you boil an egg.
- Broadly, once an egg is boiled, the heat breaks apart the protein’s amino acid strings. The strings then form newer stronger bonds as the heat rises, which forces the water out and hardens the contents of the egg.
- Effectively, Weiss and his team found a way to recover the proteins and reverse the process.
- Read below for more information on the application of this discovery to cancer research, written by people who know far more than I do!
