Rhode Island man’s giant pumpkin record smashed by his dad

This is a unique father-son rivalry! A Rhode Island man took 1st prize at a pumpkin contest with his 2,261.5-pound pumpkin, smashing his son’s record in the process!
Before being one-upped by his dad Richard, Ron Wallace held the North American giant pumpkin record and was the first person to break the 1-ton barrier in 2009.
Ron says the secret is a lot of hard work & the ‘Wallace organic wonder fertilizer’.
It looks like he’ll need a lot of it to reclaim his title when he returns to Frerichs Farm next year.
