- Only. In. Japan.
- Osaka schoolchildren are learning about poop in a 16-foot toilet bowl slide at the “Toilet!? – Human Waste & Earth’s Future” exhibit.
- The exhibit focuses on human waste, how it is disposed and what must be done to ensure that toilets meet the demands of global population growth.
- For example, phosphorous is reportedly harvested from sewage treatment systems in Japan and some US cities, which can then be used to fertilise crops.
- According to videos at the event, children are encouraged to get into the spirit of the exhibition by putting on curly brown foam hats before going down the slide- where they are later greeted by cartoon stools and singing, interactive toilets that teach them about feces and toilets.
- It seems the exhibition is delivering on its promise of being a “faecal roll-coaster ride of stool-related information and attractions”.
- Oh, and visitors get to examine human and animal waste “in all their glorious shapes and sizes”.
