- A study carried out by Cardiff surgeon David C Bosanquet states that music is a ‘wonder drug’ during surgery, and provided a recommended list of songs for operating theatres.
- The study, which was published in the Christmas edition of the British Medical Journal, concluded that while tracks such as ‘Stayin Alive’ and ‘Fix You’ are ideal, ‘Another one Bites the Dust’ & ‘Everybody Hurts’ are not, as they’re downers.
- It is reported that music is played in approximately 3/4 of operating theatres with the soundtrack often chosen by the lead surgeon.
