A Melbourne man’s plea for Australians to donate their McDonald’s Monopoly ‘instant win’ food vouchers has gone viral.
-
Last week, Matt Lawson shared a photo of his winning ticket on Facebook, saying he had donated it to those in need, and called on others to do the same.
-
According to Matt, offices and schools have set up jars for people to donate their unused vouchers, which have then been delivered them to groups in need.
-
Although Matt acknowledges that “junk food” is being handed out, he notes that it will make a big difference to someone who hasn’t eaten in days, and makes people aware of the issue of homelessness.
-
Although McDonald’s initially rejected the idea on the basis that the tickets are non-transferable, they are now (sort of) lovin’ it, telling 9 News that they admire Matt’s efforts, and will honor any ticket presented in Australia.

For those who don’t know, McDonald’s hands out Monopoly game tickets, with some eligible for ‘instant wins’ which can be redeemed for specified food items.
