- Lego has approved the construction of a Women of NASA Lego fan-designed set, due to hit shelves on Earth (and maybe the moon?) later this year or early 2018.
- Maia Weinstock’s Lego Ideas submission was considered for production after it reached the required 10,000 supporters. The set features 4 vignettes and 5 minifigures to celebrate the women who’ve played key roles in NASA’s history
- Sally Ride (the first American woman in space) Margaret Hamilton (a computer scientist who helped develop flight software for the Apollo space missions), Katherine Johnson (a mathematician and NASA researcher featured in the film Hidden Figures), Nancy Grace Roman (known as the ‘Mother of Hubble) and Mae Jemison (the first African American woman in space) will be included, as well as a frame to display their minifigures.
- Also in space news today, SpaceX has announced that it plans to send 2 private citizens (who have already paid a substantial deposit) around the moon late in 2018.
