A Wisconsin school was evacuated after a ‘concerned parent’ mistook a child’s Darth Vader costume for a bulletproof vest, and contacted the police!
-
It’s reported that the child had dressed-up for Stars Wars Day, prompting a parent to report that they had seen someone in body armour and a mask, carrying a bag.
-
Police evacuated the Ashaubenon High School in Green Bay and placed a nearby school in lockdown until they realised the true nature of the circumstances.
-
According to police, the parent was right to employ the saying ‘If you see something, say something’, but that the student would not be punished as it was merely a mistake or ‘lapse in judgement’, given that costumes are not part of the dress code.

Star Wars Day is celebrated on May 4 because of the pun ‘May the 4th be with you’, taken from the phrase May the Force be with you (used to wish people luck in the movies).
