Angela Merkel responds to US spying allegations

  • German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, says the German government may scrap a no-spy agreement Germany has held with Britain and The USA since 1945.
  • Germany has not ruled out counter-espionage surveillance of the USA.
  • This has resulted from last week’s scandal involving the arrest of a ‘double agent’ who spent 2 years collecting top secret German intelligence documents for a US body.
