Plans for an elevator to space!

Japanese company plans to build an elevator to space!
Posted by: admin , September 22, 2014
  • Japanese company Obayashi says it plans to build an elevator to space by 2050.
  • It is reported the elevator would soar 60,000 miles into the sky and use magnetically-powered cars to transport people and cargo to a space station that is yet to be constructed.
  • The system is said to be made possible due to advancements in the use of carbon nanotechnology, and will cost approximately 200 per kg to transport cargo, as opposed to the current cost of $22,000 per kg with space shuttles.
  • It is expected that such a voyage would take approximately 7 days.
