- Pizza Hut was forced to apologise after a Mt Waverley franchise offered a “free small animal” to customers who purchased 10 large pizzas. It’s reported that the deal was privately struck between the franchise store and a nearby pet store.
 - Pizza Hut Australia responded to the social media backlash by confirming it didn’t authorise the promotion and arranged for its prompt withdrawal.
 - In addition to numerous concerned individuals, Oscar’s Law and RSPCA were the most prominent voices against the promotion.
 - No animals were given out during the promotion.
