• Cats have taken over the internet, and soon there will be an exhibition at a New York museum called “How Cats Took Over the Internet” to prove it!
• According to the website of the Museum of the Moving Image, the exhibit will take a “critical look” at a “deceptively frivolous phenomenon” by examining phenomena such as lolcats, #caturday and celebrity cats.
• There will be a timeline of internet cat moments as well as a world map of cat memes to see how the phenomenon translates across the seas.
• Importantly, there will be a loop of “significant cat videos” in the museum’s Video Screening Amphitheatre.
• The exhibition will run from 7 August 2015 to 31 January 2016 at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, New York.
