  • A Japanese zoo has apologised following criticism for its decision to name a baby monkey Charlotte in honour of the newborn British princess.
  • The zoo was inundated with complaints from locals, who argued that giving the princess’ name to a monkey was disrespectful to British royals.
  • The Takasakiyama Zoo says the name was chosen after a public vote, where it received 59 out of 853 votes.
