- Shortly after a cabinet meeting, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi called a press conference where a master ice cream maker helped him hand out ice creams to journalists.
- The stunt was a light-hearted response to a cover of the Economist in which he is shown on board a sinking ship (made from a Euro note), ice cream cone in hand.
- Also in the boat was German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande. The caption read: “That sinking feeling (again)”.
