Cyclists are ‘quaxing’ around the world!

Quaxing is trending globally and has been defined as "to shop in the Western world by means of walking, cycling or public transport".

  • Quaxing is trending globally and has been defined as “to shop in the Western world by means of walking, cycling or public transport”.
  • The term was coined following comments made by Auckland local government councilor Dick Quax regarding the practicality or possibility of doing one’s shopping by train or bicycle.
  • Since then, #quaxing has been trending online with people sending Cr Quax photos of their quaxing in a bid to demonstrate the versatility of cycling and erode the misconception that it is purely a recreation or fitness pursuit.
