- A 12-year-old boy on a quest to drive across Australia managed to travel 1,200km (800 miles) before he was arrested by police!
- It’s reported that the boy planned on driving 4,000km from Kendall, NSW to Perth (which is a 40-hour trip!), but eventually attracted the attention of the Broken Hill Highway Patrol because of a broken bumper, which was dragging along the ground.
- The boy was caught during day 2 of ‘Operation go Slow’, a campaign aimed at increasing police presence of the roads.
- It is not yet known how the boy managed to travel for such a distance, and refuel, without being noticed!
