- Tiny doctors?!
- Scientists say they have developed microbots that can enter the human body to deliver drugs to targeted locations and perform operations, such as unclogging arteries!
- Scientists at Ecole Polytechnique Federale Lausanne and the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich say the ‘robot’ looks and moves like bacterium (thanks to its biocompatible hydrogel and magnetic nanoparticles) and does not need a motor.
- The reconfigurable microbots are controlled by ‘remote control’ electromagnetic fields, which would replace invasive and risky surgery, thereby changing the way medical operations are performed in the future.
- Findings have been published in Nature Communications.
