What would you take into space?
-
Denmark’s first astronaut Andreas Mogensen is headed to the International Space Station with 2 crew members and 20 astronaut minifigures provided by Lego!
-
The best part is the plastic astronauts will be given away (here on Earth) to winners of a competition for Danish schoolchildren to use Lego to create a video about the country’s space mission and post it to YouTube.
- The minifigures are painted with symbols of Mogensen’s mission, which was dubbed Iriss by the European Space Agency (the ESA) in honour of the Greek goddess who was the messenger to the Gods.
- Andreas shot off from earth in a Soyuz spacecraft with Russian cosmonaut Sergey Volkov and Kazakh cosmonaut Aidyn Aimbetov, and is expected to arrive at the space station on Friday at 3.42am EDT.
- The competition is the product of a collaboration between the ESA and Lego.
