- It’s reported that Republican Michael Eremita and his Democratic challenger Kim Miller each received 718 votes in last week’s election.
- Luckily, the town charter allows for tied elections to be decided by a special election or coin toss.
- The coin toss was chosen because a special election would have cost another $2,500.
- Michael won the toss, as he chose heads, along with Town Clerk Elizabeth Waters.
- According to the Washington Post, 35 US states have laws that allow for tied results to be resolved by coin toss, or other chance-based action.
- Bolton is home to approximately 5,000 residents.
