• Scientist and cellist David Teie has created a world-first album for cats called ‘Music for Cats’, which will be released through Universal Music on October 28!

• According to David, cats appreciate music because of the sounds they hear as kittens, such as their mother’s purr, but that not all cats will take to the music – with some approaching the loudspeaker while others walking away.

• A spokesperson for Universal says this might lead to music for other animals, such as dogs and horses.

• David is a cellist with the US National Symphony. Prior to being offered a deal with Universal, David raised hundreds of thousands of dollars through crowdfunding and sold 10,000 copies of his album for cats independently.
