Man suspended for talking like a robot
- Ronald Dillon was suspended from his job at the New York City Health Department after a judge found that he spoke in a “deliberately robotic fashion” in at least 5 inbound phone calls last year.
- The disciplinary hearing judge did not believe Ronald’s submission that he was reading from a script, and speaking in an atonal manner to offset his Brooklyn accent.
- During one of the recorded calls, a woman said she hung up on Ronald and called back because she believed she had spoken to a robot, and she wanted to speak with a real person.
