Connecticut town election decided by coin toss!

An election for a seat on the governing board in Bolton, Connecticut resulted in a tie, so a coin toss was used to pick a winner!
It’s reported that Republican Michael Eremita and his Democratic challenger Kim Miller each received 718 votes in last week’s election.
Luckily, the town charter allows for tied elections to be decided by a special election or coin toss.
The coin toss was chosen because a special election would have cost another $2,500.
Michael won the toss, as he chose heads, along with Town Clerk Elizabeth Waters.
According to the Washington Post, 35 US states have laws that allow for tied results to be resolved by coin toss, or other chance-based action.
Bolton is home to approximately 5,000 residents.
