• A Melbourne woman was rescued after she fell into a sinkhole that opened up under her feet as she was hanging up washing in her backyard.
• The woman was forced to swim and float in the water at the bottom of the sinkhole for about half an hour before her cries for help were heard by neighbours.
• It’s believed the sinkhole was on the site of an old well.
• Although it was initially reported that the woman escaped without injuries, it has been reported today that she has suffered a blockage to her heart from hypothermia  resulting from her being trapped in the cold water at the bottom of the sinkhole.
